False or corbelled vault; technique for constructing a domed roof on dry-stone huts. Flat stones are placed on top of each other to form a gradually diminishing circle or oval shape, with a slight overhang on each course, until the doomed roof is completely closed up. Some authors do not use the term "false" in their definitions of this technique as it gives the mistaken impression of a fragile structure, which is far from the truth.
